Services Provided at the Bradshaw Clinic
The Bradshaw Clinic houses prescribing doctors, nursing, key working and the needle exchange.
Maintenance Prescribing
Our maintenance programmes are designed to provide harm reduction to individuals who use drugs, but are not ready to stop using drugs. Providing our patients with methadone or buprenorphine treatment reduces the risks associated with illicit drugs such as Hepatitis B & C virus, HIV. Complimented by the onsite needle exchange facility the clinic can offer an environment which supports service users until they are ready to change.
Detoxification Prescribing
We offer community based detoxification regimes for all patients of the clinic whether they are referred purely for detox or wish to reduce their prescribed medication. The service offers buprenorphine, lofexidine and methadone detoxifications which are supported by the prescribing of naltrexone to reduce the chance of relapse. The service acknowledges that not all detoxifications will be successful and all service users will be supported in treatment until they are ready to attempt detox again in the future.
Needle Exchange
A needle exchange is provided on site which is accessible to anyone in the city regardless of whether they are engaged in treatment at the clinic. The needle exchange has a separate entrance providing a secure and confidential service to all.
Extensive pharmacy scheme links
The service has extensive pharmacy links across the city providing patients with choice over where they collect their medication. The clinic is also engaged with the NHS Connecting for Health “National Programme for IT” which will enable the electronic transfer of prescriptions during 2007.

The Bradshaw Clinic is a joint project funded by the Derby Community Safety Partnership and Derby City Primary Care Trust.
